There are many details to follow online No Limit Holdem Tournaments. Some of them may be as unique and ambitious than the cat you are trying to decipher from your opponents. When playing online, however, you do have tools and indicators available that can help you make a solid decision, at least mathematically depending on conditions calculable at any given time.
Two of these conditions are often used by professional players at live tournaments and are essential for success online as well. The indicators are M and Q.
M means M ratio, which is basically a pile of comparison between you and the minimum size of the pot in force. A minimum pot consists of a combination of blinds and antes escalating continuously as a tournament progresses. As your stack (or M) becomes lower, other players with my best start to steal your blinds and risk losing a pot so you eliminate the competition.
Q is a comparison of your stack on stacks of other playera by determining the average stack size of all the remaining players in the tournament and affixing a comparison the representative value of one to your stack. So if your battery is half the size of the average stack, then you have a Q of .5. If however you had 3 times the average stack, your Q would be 3.
You should know both of these numbers at any time in the tournament, and depending on the structure and / or dynamics game, either the Q or the M-May be more important as an indicator at any given time.
M is generally more relevant than Q in tournament normally organized and must always be known as well as its corresponding color zone. Green for an M of 20 or more, yellow will be from 15 to 20, while the orange 10 to 15. The Mzone are less red, which goes from 1 to 5 and all but Mzone gray which means your ratio M is actually less than 1. However, M isnÂ't always the most important indicator to consider. You may indeed be more compelled to act a certain way in a tournament based on Q.
The reason why Q may be more relevant than the M is because of the parity cell at a critical cross match. In other words, if most of the players at your table are similar (low) rate of M which are in Mzone orange or red, then the Mzone donÂ't really matter much at all. You need to know what the strength of your hole cards are and use the position to stop the more pots preflop as possible.
Know the difference between M and Q in poker tournaments can be critical to your success in transferring money and mathematically correct play the game critical intersects.
